Dust on the Soul

The early morning rays of the sun
splash my countenance
and I am awakened

out of my ignorant stupor.

Scores of queries

buried deep

in the squalor of a laid back existence

begin to torture my very soul.
"What is writ in my destiny?"
"Why can't I see beyond the fog of life?"

Some incomplete goal
lies awaiting my knock
on its beckoning door
and I am helpless
oblivious of that window
 to hope and fulfillment.

Cobwebs of ignorance,
dust of arrogance
lie untouched

wrenching my sudden thoughts

of reflection and realization.
Oh God! I beseech You
To show me the Way!

Shail, welcome to one shot!Am new there too so I love to know other newcomers, too.

They say our destinies are already written. But deep inside I would like to believe we have a hold on our destinies.

Had a good read.Looking forward to seeing you more at one shot!

Hi June, so good to see you here! Yes, I do believe that God helps those who help themselves. There is no point in believing in destiny helplessly. But this said, I also believe in the law of karma.

Yes, I hope to be around here regularly. I just have to remember that I have to post a poem every Tuesday or Wednesday at One Shot.
Right?

nice one shot. i think there is a certain uncomfortableness that is good. that God can use to help us find the way...you did a nice job of making me feel the interior of ones mind in this...

Shail,
Your One Shot is really beautiful. I often wonder why I can't see beyond the fog of life as well. Great job. :) Kristen
