Krishna's feathers

They lie lifeless,
the beautiful fanlike feathers
no longer open up to display their splendour,
the seed of hope that man had planted -
a poison trip for the country’s  national symbol,
a species representing the nation’s pride
lies abandoned like a decomposing corpse.

Oh! Krishna, just see what they have done
to the fertile green eyed feather that adorned your crown?
it lies desecrated in the mire of human callousness, greed and survival,
the wondrous aura of the past where forests echoed
with the call of the peacock now lies dormant,
the deadly  silence mourns an invaluable loss of  nature,
a  deprivation only the wild understands
a  grief only the universe bears.

Really touching one Shail. It is so sad to see such exploitation of national bird of india for monetary gains. Once I have seen a peacock dance in a temple which I can never forget. It is really sad that all such beautiful things are simply disappearing from our world and only machines and money will hopefully remain with us.

Thanks Hari. Not many people bother about this and that hurts apart from the fact that the lovely national bird suffers too. People are supposed to use the feathers that fall off the bird on their own but sadly, that is not the case...
