Man-Made Splendor!

Buildings,
reaching up to the deep blue skies,
slicing
the horizon,
an impressive combination
of brick and mortar
promising
 illusionary eternity.

Monument,
a man-made wonder,
a piece of poetry,
constructed
with heart strings that never die.
Magnificent love
usurped
by the ravages of time and motion.

My house,
my home
unconditionally
embraces me in its fold,
no reasons asked
no conditions made.
My haven
My friend. Life itself.

For Poetry Potluck
Prompt: Buildings, Monuments, Landmarks

Wow Shail, so awesome post, but the best for me is the last stanza which you speak about your beloved home... :-)

I was touched there as I have also a home like yours which unconditionally embraces me in its folds!

I love this entry of yours, superbly done Shail!

Lovely...really nice.

Buildings...
an impressive combination
of brick and mortar
promising
illusionary eternity.

Loved these lines.

Shail has wonderfully woven splendid, evocative word-images. The agony of the the poet is revealed best in the opening stanza. The term, 'slicing the horizon' makes us feel that buildings, like knife, cut and slice the horizon. It is strengthened further by 'promising
illusionary eternity'.

The second stanza marks a shift, where we find how 'piece of poetry' is 'constructed with heart strings that never die'.

The third stanza is almost a return to the womb, a rebirth of sorts, when she writes 'embraces me in its fold'. This is indeed a very feminine imagery, which no male poet can ever construct.

Keep poeming, Shail :)

We have had three parallels in the area of building but finally it is the home that rules the roost above all.
There is a nice clanking to homes that nothing else can give.
Nice post.

Oh..this was lovely, Shail... I really enjoyed the progression of the poem... eventually resting on a simple (yet do dear) home ... it was a beautiful piece!

"illusionary eternity" -- particularly loved this term... this is exactly how one feels when staring up at tall buildings from the base...
Awesome!!!

So nice of you to comment. Glad you liked the home part. Yes, most of us have this haven to which we can go uninvited unconditionally and feel at ease...

Shail, Sorry for the late response. Was busy in Office. But at the end of the long tunnel there is always light. At the end of a hectic schedule there was the beacon of your mesmerizing poetry well with juxtaposed imagery with man's varied creations! Loved it!!
