Let's Get Down To Business!

Sent down
to serve as apprentice
I lost myself
in the pleasure
of living,
forgot my duty
and donned on the cap
of supposed Master and King
of the Universe.

Blinding clouds
of arrogance
crashed carelessly
shattering
my very being.
I realized: I wasn't King.
An apprentice
was I to be
for all eternity.
My foolishly flocking around
did not make Him forget me.
When the time came, for me,
I stood before my Creator.
Two chairs before me I saw
Amused at my bewilderment -
"You forgot," He said. "I didn't."
"Remember, you are my apprentice?
Let's get down to business!"

One Single Impression: Apprentice

Dear Shail,
A profound poem with many, many layers of meaning. Should have been written at your best hour, when your emotions were all collected and when your thoughts stopped awhile dragging you here and there.
Great work, Shail.

Thanks Geeta,

Nice that you liked the poem. Yes, life is indeed about realization. Not many (me included) realize this in time..

Thanks Brian, I too hope and believe that someday, there will be two chairs where the Creator and I can sit and thrash matters out...

Thanks Hope, Yes, most of us (me included) are not so sure why we are here, what we are supposed to do....

At times like these, thinking about the Creator can be highly gratifying.

What do you say?

Dear Sridhar,

It is always a pleasure to see you here amidst my basket of poetry.

Thanks. The encouragement is needed.

Thanks Claudia. Yes, I too like this concept and believe in the fact that the Creator never terrorizes. He is willing to sit down with us and help us out whenever we want Him to do so...
All we got to do is ask.

A lot of thought here and a simple witty way of narration!! Liked the advancement in each stanza as it rolled effortlessly!!

It's always somewhat unnerving to realise that one isn't royalty, but only a lowly apprentice. :-)

Great Shail. After reading this I started 'thinking' and have no words to comment further. You are doing a great job of making ppl 'think' which many have totally forgotten in this mad world.
