Mourning...Alone....

Death claims its victim
silently,
unexpectedly
leaving behind
a hurting trace
of mental agony,
of bleeding heartstrings
tied to the door knob
of mortality.....

Everyone peeks in
to offer their respect
to the departed soul,
to make their presence felt
amidst the chaos of superficiality
and then....

there is silence,
an aching bruise
of mourning alone
away from the world
within the depressing confines
of the heart
where emotions
ravage a denying mind....

(For a neighbour who passed away unexpectedly)

  1. An insightful poem conveying the shock of a sudden loss and the difficulty in coming to terms with this unexpected change. Well done.

  7. "Morn after morn dispels the dark,
    Bearing our lives away;
    Absorbed in cares we fail to mark
    How swift are years decay;
    Some maddening draught hath drugged our soul
    In lone with vital breath,
    Which still the same sad chart unrolls,
    Birth, eld, disease and death.".................BHARTRHARI " Against the Desire of Worldly Things".
