How are you doing?

This is part of NaPoWriMo - 30 poems in 30 days

Day 17
Prompt: GREETINGS

Lying idle.
Taking for granted.
Churning old grudges.
I have forgotten
what it means to celebrate.

Relationships run a nonsensical race.
Thoughts torment.
Feelings falter.
And I discover amidst my disillusion
what it means to greet, to acknowledge.

Greeting you, me and us.
Greeting love, lust and lost flavour.
Greeting the cool breeze.
Greeting my existence.
Greeting life itself.

Inside Me...

Searching for carnivals
all over the place
knowing not
they are all around.

To each one his carnival.
For each thought a festival.
To each emotion a feast.
For each intention a goal.

My carnival resides within me.
Blissfully unaware
I wander over waves of wayward emotion,
Rising and falling, celebrating and mourning.

Two Sides of the Same Coin

Celebrating

Birth and death,

Praying

For life,

Condoling a demise.

Celebrations and festivities

Of life’s irony

Staring me hard in my face,

Stone-faced, ruthless.

Where do I draw the line?

Between joy and sorrow?

Between faith and hopelessness?

What I do today has no relevance tomorrow.

Life or death -just two sides of the same coin.

Celebration and festivity – all in the mind…
