Death on the Highway

Another demise.
Another migrant's life reduced to nothing.
Neither murdered nor robbed.
Neither had he cheated or killed.
All that he did was make an attempt to flee hunger, disease and desperation.
The Highway proved his true calling
making him walk from the eatery,
a place he had called home
for months, maybe years.
What an irony of life!
The place where he fed people threw him out hungry.
'Better to die of a disease in one's village than die of hunger on the road.'
Sadly, the Highway was hungry too
and it snatched its share for the day.

How many more conning coronas are going to make a meal of migrants before kindness is infected around?!#shail raghuvanshi
