I nearly reached there!
All on my own
enjoying my self imposed solitude,
wishing for no strange presence
to destroy my self bestowed peace
I sailed along
carrying myself
a one man army
fully immersed
in me, mine, myself.
I nearly reached there!
When I discovered
the sailing solitude
I so longed for
was only loneliness,
the peace prickly pieces of arrogant dust
covering my confused conflicted mind,
what I needed
was another sailing boat,
sea or stream, just sharing life together!

Beautiful. I love the essence.... Keep Writing...
Yeah sometimes we think solitude is what we need, when actually what we want is someone along. Loved the way you put this fact into verse :)
Thanks Shail. Yes, solitude is a necessity but more so is the ability to share... Glad you enjoyed the poem...
Thanks Aankeet. Nice you liked it...
nice aliteration in peace prickly...yes our independence can become a false illusion od strength when in reality it only hides loneliness...nice...
Thanks Brian. So nice of you....
this is really beautiful!
love this line
'the peace prickly pieces of arrogant dust' just seemed to hit me.
This is a beautiful poem. I agree we can't always shrug off loneliness to solitude. One is peaceful, the other....alone.
Thanks dear Hope. Good to see you here.....
Nice Lovely day.

Thank you dear Jamie for the advance wishes. Have been loving being part of the whole poetry forum......
Can I anything more than the fact that it nearly brought tears in my eyes... Lovely...
Thanks Varun. I understand the tears...
yes, I think I would be so much happy at time in solitude but in reality I would probably just get very lonely. I can relate to your sentiments here, Shail. Hope you are doing well.
True Sheila. Yes, I am doing well. Just busy with too many things...
What a cool airy sailing metaphor. I like both, sailing alone and with someone.
Very true Shail...solitude journey with a partner to share it, otherwise, it would be such a boring task, isn't it!
Thanks Varun. I truly understand the tears.. Keep reading like you always do.
Hi Judy. Yes, sailing alone has its own pleasures too but sometimes we get too carried away and then we find that the solitude has turned into loneliness. This is what is expressed in the poem.
Thanks for sharing.
I agree entirely Bhargavi. But sometimes, reflections, solitude is also necessary, a kind of balance for both so that we don't take each other for granted and also have some space...
