Illusion of Truth

This is part of NaPoWriMo - writing 30 poems in 30 days

Day Two:
Prompt: the poem that tells a lie

I knew I was made for him
and he for me,
his glance the very first day
told me so-
there I was with my pretty friend Jenny
and yet, he looked longingly at me.
I was lonely, lost and looking out
for someone,
anyone who would care
to look back at me,
to want me
despite my distracting, distant gaze
into the non-existent forlorn future
so when you looked
I knew it had to be you
so when you finally tied the knot
months later with my pretty friend Jenny
I understood myself
completely
knowing the farcical truth
that I had been living
to live a lie.
I knew then I was made for him
'cos I saw him looking longingly
at the bridesmaid as he kissed the bride!

Stepping Stone....

The next step
could be nowhere
lost amidst the gloomy oblivion
of nestling negativity.

But then,

the next step
could lead somewhere
looming large within
the luscious longings of roaring life!

So,

I take the next step
unmindful of unknown consequences,
unwarranted situations,
happy that I took the step at all!

Nearly There!

I nearly reached there!
All on my own
enjoying my self imposed solitude,
wishing for no strange presence
to destroy my self bestowed peace
I sailed along
carrying myself
a one man army
fully immersed
in me, mine, myself.

I nearly reached there!
When I discovered
the sailing solitude
I so longed for
was only loneliness,
the peace prickly pieces of arrogant dust
covering my confused conflicted mind,
what I needed
was another sailing boat,
sea or stream, just sharing life together!

Raw without preservatives....

Like clay,
yet to be moulded,
the rawness of life
echoes back at me
every time
I hurl a preconceived
prejudiced notion.
The mind plays games
if we permit it to -
it is just another raw fruit
waiting to be peeled,
till the seed of life
stares at us in the face
reflecting the true nature
of existence -
Plain raw material without preservatives....

Lemon Bashing

The lonely lemon lay lost
wondering
about the juice of life
that lay hidden within
yet, untapped
the aroma obvious
yet, unimaginable.
All it needed
was a friendly fork of a fiend
to shake hands,
and pull out the taste of life.
When it did
the effect was fantastic -
with the delicious summer juice
came the fun filled festival of
friendly fervor -
the Indian way,
the Holi* way.

*Holi: The Indian festival of colors that will be celebrated this month.

Calmed at last....

When your raging emotions
burned my heart
that solitary cup of chilled coffee
calmed me.

The motionless sea
mirrored my emotions
calmed on the surface
raring to storm within.

When the last call
beckons, the soul
finally calmed,
the warmth of the grave will be haven.

Journeying through the Road of Friendship....

Twenty years of friendship -
no small thing.
A journey of little joys
on many a bumpy road
definitely not in an expensive Ford!
Just walks along the beaten path
sometimes hurried to reach a
place,
sometimes at a leisurely pace.
Strolling o
n a rainbow across
the sky
spreading our wings, ready to fly.

Distance and time just
temporary barriers,
not a hindrant to pursue a friendship
blessed by the Power Above to survive
through the maze called life.

Walking hand in hand
for two decades can take a toll
on any relationship, blood
related or not
but, not this one
as two friends enrich their lives
sharing emotions and reflections,
talking, chatting, arguing and loving.
The little fancies of teenage life
floating on a cloud sometimes,
landing on the ground with a thud at times
maturing jnto an association
that spreads across time
ready to take on the world
with just trust in hand.

I wonder, as each day strengthens our bond,
'Is it some magic wand
that brought us together?'
'Or, some previous incarnation connection?'
I know not,
I only savor our faith in each other
just as you do, I know.
I treasure
the beautiful threads of love
that bind us with tender joy
like a surprise gift wrapped
with a sprinkling of stars
to brighten the road ahead.
God Bless You, Dear Friend!
